Kinda thinking about a trailer for camping and long hauls. There is a large selection out there. What justifys a $4000.00 dollar trailer against an Ebay $1000.00 dollar trailer?
I see the money in the body itself, then fancy rims, tires, lining, lights and trim.
Bottom line for a few times a year what can you get away with?
Smitty....we sell both Featherlite and Haulmark.....Featherlite is a premium brand....Haulmark is a upper middle product. Trailers are like anything else, you get what you pay for, and you may not use it much, but when you use it, and it breaks down, take my word, you are going to be one mad person.
I've been thinking about building my own out of a cut down trailer frame/axle and some aluminum diamond plate. Haven't really looked into the overall cost involved yet though.

Shooter,
I think he is asking about tow behind trailers. Do featherlite and haulmark make those too?
I have less than $200 total in mine and everything except the box is new. The box is a cartop luggage carrier I bought for $10. It pulls great and is fine for the 2-3 rallies I go to each year.
Depends how much luxury and room you want in a trailer. Do you plan on camping out or staying in a motel?
I passed a used Time Out trailer from a guy at the local swapmeet. he was asking $1000.00 obo for a trailer 4 years old. He didn't use it any more. He started staying in motels.
The main question is do you want a cargo trailer to carry your tent and belongings, or do you want an all in one set-up?
here's a link to get some of an idea. http://timeouttrailers.org/default.aspx
I pulled a trailer with my Goldwing for quite a while. I did find I ended up carrying a lot of stuff I didn't need. Camping is probably the only reason I would want to. I haven't decided if I even want to put a hitch onmy Ultra. I still have the trailer in the garage.
The homebuilt trailers are fine. (Harbor Freight trailer kit and a car top carrier) I can't justify a $4000 custom painted trailer myself.
I saw a trailer that had a body like a '57 Chevy up in N. GA a while back. I don't know if the guy built it himself or what, but it looked cool as hell.
