Question Bars

I have a 2012 FLHTCUSE7 ultra. I have the stock bars on it (8" i'm pretty sure) U'm tall 6'2 and have issues when turning tight turn of the bars hitting my knees. I have to move my knee out to make a tight turn thus throwing off the balance etc. I really don't see enough room available moving them forward. they would be touching the fairing. Looking for just a little bit higher so maybe 10" bars would work hopefully using same cables etc. Any ideas on the cost to have it done? I do have the service manual and parts book and do some of my own maintenance. Just not sure about the throttle etc
thanks Jeff

Cost is crazy what dealers charge for bars. If you got Khromewerks sweepers you could use everything and only need a new $40 clutch cable and $5 tranny side cover gasket. The bars are $110. Do it yourself and take your time. Dealer will tell you about 6 hrs labor.

I did bars once. Went with Khromewerks 2+2 narrow. Spent about $1000 and I'm still not happy. My lower back and neck hurt after 30 mins on bike. Looking back I shud have just went with Heliers bars. Yes they are expensive around $700. But once you get heli they have so much adjustments I think you don't need any other bars. I looked at them and said damn they are expensive, guess what ? Now I'm just where I was in the beginning. If I had just went with Heli I would have saved money in the long run. Few people may not like their design.

Just called an Indy shop in Spokane, WA they gave a rough estimate of 3 to 8 hrs of labor. That means anywhere between $300 to $1300 for bar swap. And that is not even dealer. When asked why so much ? He said he has to take the tank, fairing and other things off of the bike due to ABS module or something. I have seen bar swap at bike week and they didn't have to take tank off. I have seen them do in less than 2 hours at bike week.

Anyone here in eastern WA that can help me swap the bars ? LOL!!!

I put Khromewerks 10" bars on my 08. Got them from Dennis Kirk. Those and some new poly riser bushings cost me $100. Did it 3 summers ago and love it.

I know from experience with 10" wild 1 chubby bars you can get away with your stock stuff. Cost then would depend on the dealership or whoever does the install.

$500-$1500 is the range I discovered. I did Kromewerks 2+2 on my SG and like them but Im only 5'10. Dealer charged me $500 but it was between Christmas and New Years and they needed something to do. Shoulda done helibars and been done with it one time. I put helibars on my Goldwing and love them.

Not sure why your Indy would quote 3-8 hours. I've had helis put on by my Indy 3 different times. Took him 1.5 hrs each time. $140. And that included the heated grips. Tank does not come off.

I just put 10" Yafee Monkeybars on my '18FLHX. Wasn't too bad of a job. I extended my own wiring, so that was a savings. With 10", I didn't have to extend my clutch or brake lines. You might be different. I did price what it would cost, including their superclamp and new lines and harley wiring extensions. It was about $900 just for parts. Yafee has a deal going on right now, so I got my bars and the clamp for about $440 all in. The rest was just labor and some shrink tubing. Probably a 5 hour job total due to all the internal wiring.
