I know youve all heard it before, but I think its terrible the way Harley Davidson treats its customers. I had three water pumps put in my 2014 FLHTK , And now the water pump on my 16 CVO Street Glide went South. Their water pumps are junk, been making the same terrible water pump for seven years. It cost them $25 maybe to make and they sell them to us for 400 bucks, knowing full well that we have to buy one every couple years. Its like all it does is circulate water and you cant build one that will last 50,000 mi. What a gimmick.
Thanks for letting me vent !
Yeah, that was definitely a low bidder water pump. The good news is there’s been a new pump for a couple years that’s supposedly a lot more reliable. Knock on wood, I’m still on my original pump with 54,000 miles on it.
Water pump woes on a Harley Davidson forum. Never thought Id see the day. Whats next? Some eco bull$hit overpriced battery powered model?
Oh....nevermind.....
OP- sorry for your frustration. I hope they get the bugs worked out on these new engines.
I guess this is something that is just totally random?
Some members seem to have had to go through multiple water pumps.
And yet that are lots of other riders that have never had any issue with one.
Still on the original water pump on my '15 Ultra Limited, with just over 30,000 miles now.

Thats what they said in 2001 when the V-Rod came out.
Just asking because I have no idea: Is there a coolant change required for "proper" maintenance similar to the brake fluid change, especially for the ABS equipped bikes? Have you been substituting automotive coolant when topping off or changing? Your "luck" seems worse than most.
