Default 2007 FLHTC Cruise Control won't hold steady speed

All functions of the cruise control are working except that it won't hold a steady speed. When active, it will steadily creep up in speed. I replaced the rear brake switch last year but I can't recall if this correlates with the timing of this issue.

Thanks for any help!

I had the same thing happen a couple years ago. The "Set" switch on the right handlebar was corroded. I got some contact cleaner after it and fixed it. You don't have to take the switch housing off the handlebar. Just squirt it in there and exercise it.

I am new to Harley's, relatively speaking. I thought my cruise was broken a couple times, but found out the culprit was ME.....I was resting my hand too heavily on the throttle boss (or whatever Kuryakn calls it....that little paddle on the end of the throttle grip) and I was actually causing the bike *(unconsciously) to speed up !

You can test by grabbing onto the mirror or right switchgear instead of the grip(or just ride with your left hand), just to see if it's you.

Even though I know about it, I catch myself once or twice a year doing this.

On my '07 RKC the cruise would not even set. Watched a youtube video where the guy recommended as a test to disconnect the two-prong electrical terminal going to the throttle cable (somewhere on the cable between the neck and the tank). That worked for me, now my cruise is back. In the video he explained there were 4 ways to cancel cruise: tap front brake, tap rear brake, pull clutch, twist the throttle. So basically, disconnecting that electrical connection on the throttle cable might eliminate the throttle as a culprit in your case.
