I recently had an accident on my bike due to the cruise control not disengaging. I had the cruise control set to 45 MPH while cruising a back road. As I approached a sharp corner, I hit the brake to slow down but the cruise control did not disengage and actually tried to speed the bike up to the set speed. I engaged the clutch and the engine red lined. I did not have time to turn off the cruise control or the engine because I only had a couple of seconds to make a decision. The rear brake locked up and so did the font brake once it hit the grass. Lucky enough I managed to slow it down to about 20 MPH (guessing) before I lost control.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with the cruise control not disengaging?
Front brake, rear brake, clutch and throttle roll off all will disengage the cruise.
You also could have hit the kill switch.
Year and model of bike could also help us help you out.
Never had that issue, had a bad break switch and the CC would not turn on and the break lights stayed lit all the time. Glad you are ok and walked away to tell teh story..
Never had it happen and never heard of that happening until now.
I wouldn't worry much about the engine over revving if that happened to me. I would've grabbed the clutch and came to a safe stop and shut the bike off whenever I had the chance.
Crazy question but after disengaging the cruise did you still have your hand on the throttle that would cause you to maintain your speed or did you twist the grip to slow yourself down?
