Ignition Switch Crumbled
Went to unlock the forks after breakfast for a ride with the wife whom of course hasnt ridden with me in months and the ignition switch just turned and had zero resistance to it and then just popped off and of course wouldnt go back on!
Im literally trying everything I can think of and nothing is working and were in the parking lot now stranded with the forks locked. Im looking and looking at it and cant figure out why it wont go back on like its done the hundreds of times Ive had it off before and then realize that the shaft or alignment piece is down inside the ignition switch of the bike and not stuck up in the ignition switch cover thing!
It literally broke off from inside the ignition switch, metal failed and cracked it off. Never in my wildest thoughts has this crossed my mind as a possibility...
I was able to get it out with a combo of 2 spare fuses, chewing gum and a long flathead screw driver. The same flathead screw driver was able to slip down inside the ignition and unlock the forks as well as align the tumblers to allow me to start the bike and get it back home.
Im assuming I need a new ignition cover thing, anyone know whats its called exactly or a part #? Harley dealer said they only sold it as a whole unit and it was over $600 and took 2 weeks to get...there has to be a much cheaper option through EBay or somewhere else thats not replacing the entire ignition assembly.

What is item 7? And why does the key 15 show 0 cost?

Part # 7 is the black plastic piece that slips over the key. Part # 15 is a key blank, hence the $0 cost, once the 4 digit key code is provided, the customer will receive quote on cost.
