HI guys, just a quick one.
Do you guys fit ape bar's for comfort or just to make bike look different. The reason I ask is because I suffer with sore wrists and some back problems. I have a road king classic and was wondering if 14 inch ape's would help.
Thanks
Kev
Higher bars help me sit more upright in the saddle, thereby helping with my posture and back problems, thereby letting me sit longer. Also a back rest is a MUST!!!
I dont care what people think.
I'm sure it has a bit to do with both , looks and comfort . I use 12" bars because I have the same issue's as you do . With having sore wrists and hands that go numb , I use bars that have a min pull back , specifically the Kromewerks bobber bars ( 300411 ) . I found them to cure my hand , wrist issues by keeping my hands / wrist in a straight line with my forearms . With my back issues , I found you really need to work on posture , sitting up straight while riding . If I'm doing an all day ride , I find myself slouching after awhile and my back starts to bother me , have to keep reminding myself to sit up , good time to pull over and walk it off or stretch .
Agreed, better sitting position, improved handling, personal preference but I like the look much better than stock.
Went with 10” on mine, coulda/shoulda gone 12” for more adjustability but still happy with the 10s. Try and sit on Or ride a few to trial before Nailing down a specific height.
thanks for the replies guys, at the min I have 10 inch bars which I fitted last year ( only to save changing all the cables). I have riders back rest. So it looks like I will have to bite the bullit and get 14 inch bars fitted.

Reason: add picture
I'm 5'11. I went with 12" but should have gone with 14's. It did take a little while to get used to but I love them. I find them very comfortable except on those cold days when my precious little fingers get cold. lol
