Just take your time... Write down the pin connector locations - If your planning on changing out your Switch Housing \Switches & Master cyclinder - Now would be a good time to do it also!
If your installing onto an Ultra, I would advise using the one pieceupper clamp from Harley, part # 55917-08, (it's a new part)The standard chrome one piece clamps they sell are too tall and run into the radio, and the switch cover won't fit properly. I've heard of bars breaking where the lower hole is drilled when not using the one piece clamp, plus Chubbys also recommends a solid clamp. I installed my 575's, and love them. Good luck.
I installed the 575 on my ultra two weeks ago. Love them. All wires are hidden.. do your self a favor along with writting down the wire colors and pin locations take a digital picture of the pin conectors. It will help when you go to reinstall the wires. Also spray the wire harness down with some silicone lubricant. It helps to get the wires in thru the bar!!! Good luck and take your time.
Hey Chappy,
I put 518s on my RKC this spring and the one thing that helped more than anything is a post from a fellow forum member. I think he should get a technical writing award for the great job he did. Anyway here is the link https://www.hdforums.com/m_1328001/tm.htm . Have fun and take your time, after your done you will be so glad you did this job yourself.
I put Chubby 575's on my 07 SG. The dealer installed them with the wires inside for $136. I think that was a good deal and I love the bars! Wish I had done the temp guage at the same time.
remember the pin locations? I just spliced the wires and soldered them back together and shrink tubed the connections. All the wires are colored coded and you dont have to worry about messing up the connector pins. It took me about a hour and a half to splice all the wires and solder them and shrink all the the shrink tubing. On the clutch cable if you didn't buy a longer one you will need to re-route it and not through the fairing. I didn't have any trouble withthe throttle cables but the front brake line i had to bend the banjo fitting at the master cylinder just a little, other than that its a pretty easy install. I love mine.
