A few years ago I saw a touring bike that had exhaust pipes with rectangular tips on them. I can't remember now which aftermarket manufacturer he told me made them. Does anyone know what I am talking about.?

I am looking for 16753 (?) - Monster Oval Slip-Ons, Chrome with Black Tips that would fit a 2021 Street Guide. Not sure since they don't make them anymore which model to select that would mount on mine.
If I'm not mistaken the M8 exhaust is different sizes on each side so you wouldn't be able to use pre M8 exhaust unless maybe you change the headers. I'm guessing on that.

That's true. Some aftermarket M8 headers (the S&S Powertune Duals header is one example) allow the use of pre-M8 slip-ons.
Yeah it looks like they stopped making them when the M8 came out. I like that look from the rear. I will just have to keep waiting to decide what to get.
