Default Engine light and Battery light

Hey guys. I just wanted to share my last week of experiences dealing with battery and check engine light.
last week on way home from 2hr ride my bike briefly put up a check engine light along with battery light. Then went off less than minute later. Checked DTC and it was po562, po573 and u1097.

stopped at my local Indie bike guy. Or more guru. He suggested that it might be my voltage regulator. Luckily he had a chrome one in stock which was actually less than the black one just because it was older. Score me.

replaced regulator and went for about an hour ride. No issues.

went out last night and before I reached the stop sign on my road the engine and battery light came back on. And this time only threw the po562.

went back through checking voltages and had 12.3 at battery. Little low but not terrible. No opens in the stator. Didn’t check actual voltage at stator only because I checked at battery when running and it was charging. I did notice that when I went to start the battery dropped to 8 something.

so…… picked up new battery. Swapped and everything seems to be golden. I took for a spin and no issues. But one thing I noticed was with my old battery my bike volt guage would bounce around badly. With new regulator and battery that volt guage does not bounce. And charging at 14+ on highway.

I need to go for a longer ride to verify all is good. But I think I may have fixed the issue.

ride safe!!!!

Nice, hope that is the end of the story on this. And the P0562 code indicated low voltage detected at the ECM, so this all fits that as well.

I hope it’s the end of those electrical issues too. Honestly hate dealing with electrical stuff.
