I have an 2009 exl883l bought it new has 47,000 miles on the speedo battery light and engine light comes on at the same time when on the road got caught once battery was dead at the next start-up not completly dead but low had to jump battery checks good , i have been putting it on the tender starts normally after check light comes on stays on for several seconds after start-up what ideas might it be ?? voltage regulator maybe? battery terminals tight and clean. do not want to stranded any more . any input ? thanks

Either your battery is at the end of its life or your regulator may be bad.
You need to have the battery load tested. If battery is good, then check your regulator. Super easy to do if you have a multi-meter. There's instructions all over the web "how to".
If regulator and battery are good, you'd test the stator next. Again with your multi-meter.
Remove and clean the battery ground wire where it attaches to the engine just above the transmission, check the fuses and black relays in the fuse box for corrosion, start the engine and bring the idle up to 2000 rpm and use a multi meter to check battery voltage, if it's charging properly you should see 14-14.5 volts.
