The best part about RDRS? IMHO? TPMS. Some folks say don’t trust it, but it has been spot on every time I check it against my tire pressure gauge. LOVE the feature. Hill hold? Didn’t know what it was till I had 5k on it. Doh! I like that feature too.
Agreed! Love the hill hold and use it quite often. TPMS saved me the other day. Went to go for a quick spin and didn't check the tire pressure as I had just the previous time out. Fired up the bike and get a warning about low rear...down to 20 PSI...half of what it should be...doh! Without the TPMS I would have left home at half pressure. Been in the rain a few times and engaged the rain mode. Has it helped? Maybe...don't know? If so, it's seamless.
For me, most, if not all cars/trucks have it...and they have 4 wheels on the ground. Why wouldn't you want it with only 2 wheels on the ground? You do you and I'll do me.
I'm obviously researching new bikes and am seriously considering it. Last weekend I took my softail on another camping trip and this involved several hours of highway travel first. At one point it starting raining so hard that I pulled under the first bridge I came to. This is not my favorite place of refuge, but I wasn't confident on the highway under such strong rains. BTW: At this point, the cars were pulling over onto the shoulder with their 4-way flashers too. This has got me thinking about the Laidlaw YouTube I saw where he details all the RDRS features and mentioned something about a rain setting.
Anyway, thanks for all the good feedback. If you haven't voted, please do.
I'm not interested in any rider assist electronics , I ended up with ABS , not by choice but it can't hurt . I have been riding long enough I should not , and do not want them .
I like ABS but not a fan of traction control. It takes the fun out of riding, that's what throttle and clutch control are for. Besides I ride and drive for the road conditions and don't ride aggressively in poor conditions. The work truck has traction control but I don't think it's ever engaged even on icy roads.
I often wonder at what point does traction control over take more engine performance.
