Hey guys
New to the forum and just got my first bagger and I really need to change the bars.
I've read numerous threads on here , studied pictures and visited my local shop.
I have a 18 Electra Glide Ultra Classic and I'm torn between the 10" and 12" bar
I'm 6'4 with a long reach and would really like a 1 1/2 bar.
With the 12's I realize I would have to change all the cables , 10's I could run stock.
Any guys running 11 inch ? if so stock cables ?
I would prefer my hands behind the batwing and with 12's I'm cutting it close ....correct ?
If anybody has a set for sale please let me know , supply is kind of limited here in Canada.
Thanks in advance
Gypsy
I did 10 inchers and needed no extended cables, etc. Ended up converting to 12 inchers and had to change out clutch cable, and front brake lines. Got away without extending wiring, but just by a few inches. I am 5' 11" and could have went with 14 inchers to get an even with shoulders height. My 12's are great for me, a hair above the fairing and a couple inches below my shoulders.
Thank you for the input
I've been thinking 10's might be too low for me.
I checked with HD and one of the bar manufacturers and they confirmed my stock cables will work.
depends on what brand, i put 10 inch fatbaggers on my 2018 limited and my hands are over the top of the fairing just a little, all wiring is internal no problem on that. im 6'2 and you can see where my hands are.
Here is a video from factory 47 installing 14s with ALL stock wires and cables. I followed this video step by step and installed 12 inch factory 47s on my cvo sg with all stock wires/cables. These bars are 1.5 diameter also.
If you are thinking 10 inch, go with 12. Lots of threads here about people not going high enough the first time, and doing it twice costs twice as much. I am a perfect example of this mistake. I thought the 10 inchers were great, at first, but after a year or so....
I was considering 10s and went 12s. I would be happy with 14s, but didn't want to be too high above the fairing. As the 12s sit, my hands are just barely over the fairing but out of the wind. I can wear loose long sleeve shirts and the sleeves mostly stay put.
You can run 12s with stock cables, but will likely need to extend the wires. I did to run everything internal.
