Default Lowering Kits

Planning on installing a rear lowering kit on my 2016 Ultra Limited. Just wanted to get some input on what has and hasn’t worked for others. Recommendations on manufacturers and lowering levels(ie. 1”,2”,3”). Been leaning towards the burly kit.

I got a cheap Amazon lowering kit that does 1, 2, and 3". Works perfectly. I don't think this is one of those, you get what you pay for parts. It's a pretty simple piece of metal.

I have one as well. Ride quality is a little rougher over bumps but its easy to back up in my steep driveway

I would suggest a lowering kit like the one LA Choppers makes. It moves the attachment point of the lower shock bolt straight in line with the stock shock position. The Burly Brand swings the lower stock bolt position to the rear so the shock is no longer compressing in line with the swing arm movement. I had a Burly on a bike and it ended up deforming the swing arm bushings and adversely effecting the ride.

Dunno if relevant, I'm 5'6", 155# and 30" inseam. Bike is '06 RK, stk shocks, had Corbin solo seat. Put cheap lowering brackets to the 1" lowering shock mount and eventually wiped out the wire harness under the rear fender. So, changed seat, shock and back to oem shock position.

I have a Covingtons Customs set of 1 inch lowering blocks on my 2018 ultra classic. Works fine.
I think I read they moved the wires to the side under the fender to stop them from being chewed up by the tire. I could be wrong there though.

My 2008 Ultra Classic has been lowered 3" with the HogWorkz for several years now as well as a few others I ride with and no problems at all. With air pressure dropped a bit not much difference.
Put a set of 2" lowering on a friends 2017 Ultra Limited and it rides better than my 2019 Roadking with stock set up.
Very cheap mod and have personally yet to see anyone remove it once installed.
There is a difference between air and gas shocks with the kits.
Ride Safe✌🏼

Thanks for the input on those. I just bought a set along with a set of RWD RS-1 13" shocks plus a LePera Maverick Reduced height seat. I'm gonna ride it a bit so the shocks settle in before installing the Covingtons. So far solo I'm about .125" from being flat footed but with my girl (108#) I'm flat footed. We will see how it goes and I'll post some feedback. I am 5'6" 29-30" inseam and 175#.

Looks like I'm too late for my suggestion....I'm 5'8" with a 30" inseam an I installed a JNR air ride set up. It rides better than stock once you find your sweet spot, you can add air to compensate for passengers to keep the ride quality and you can slam it for parking. I found a ride height that's about a half inch lower than the stock 12" was an it's comfortable. If I need extra traction to back into a spot I can lower it a little more or put it on the stops.

As promised I took the RG out for a spin today, the first I had an opportunity to do with the new 13" RWD RS-1 shocks and WOW what an improvement in ride comfort but the height is about the same as the 12" OEMs with the Sag. I then installed the 1" Covingtons. I can now flat foot the bike and with the exception of backing over a bump it is fine. Now about the difference in ride. I road over the same speed bumps before and after installing the lowering blocks and what I found was after installing the blocks the rear suspension feels like the compression has improved to a point there is less jarring at slow and road speed. The rebound appears to feel while less responsive a bit softer so I am not sure how this will translate into dips on high speed curves but if this is less desirable I can adjust this. My question is if anyone else installing these specific blocks noticed the same?
