I have a 2015 road glide special, I want to change out the factory shocks to progressive. any recommendation. what is the factory size 12 in? i dont want to break the bank.
thank you
Take a hard look at the Bitubo Twin adjustable shocks for your bike - phenomenal bang for your buck, and fantastic features and performance, rivaling shocks at almost twice the cost……available configured to your specs of riding style and considerations like Riding solo or 2-up some/most of the time, and they are available numerous places online - as well as a forum sponsor here - DK Customs at $550 a pair.
i know you can put 12” or 13” shocks on all baggers - I chose 13” - that’s what I put on my RK, and loved the shocks - the ride was immeasurably improved - if you just have to have 12” shocks, and they have to be progressive, call and talk to respected shops about the ride you can expect to get
I had 12” progressive shocks on a 06 Ultra. They were barely an improvement over stock. If that’s all your willing to spend, you’ll be wasting your money. You’ll be better off in the long run to keep saving money and get a quality shock. Just my opinion based on my experience.
I put progressive shocks hoping to improve my road glide special's jarring ride, and also found them to be barely better than stock. I ended up spending a few more dollars for Super Shox. It was more than worth it. They gave me a great ride.
I have the 13" 944:s on my 2021 SGS and 2001 Electra Glide. The 13" 944 sits at the exact height as the stock 12" shocks. They are a big improvement over the stock shocks. The standard spring version is what I use. I have the front cartridges on the 2001 as well. I was able to find the ones on my SGS used and in great condition off eBay. Might be worth a look.
I have Progressives on my 03, they are OK, an improvement over stock,,, BUT
I have BiTubo's from DK Customs on my 13, and for the cost of the BiTubo's, and the setup DK does on them based on your weight, I think they are a better product.
If you need a question answered DK will respond.... small company, great service.
Try that with Progressive or any of their larger distributors
I had 12" standard spring Progressive 444 shocks on my Road King and it rode well, much much better than the OEM air shocks. When I traded up to an Ultra I tried the Progressive 944 series which lowered the bike to the same as 12" shocks but had the travel of a 13" shock. In theory and in their advertising the 944's sounded great but when I installed them, they gave a harsh ride. Even when I talked to Progressive customer service, the rep stated that the 944 did not ride as well as others. I kick myself for not taking off the 444's when I traded the Road King in.

good luck
I was planning to get Prog 444's for my SGS, but after reading your pot and checking out DK Custom, they sound like a winner. Thanks for the heads up!
