Default Inner primary leaking

Good morning. I am sure everyone has talked about this before. I replaced the drive belt on my 2001 Road King. Cleaned everything prestine installed all new seals correctly. I filled primary with adequate fluid and it drips before the next day. Not the cover gasket. It is coming from rear seal. After dismantling second time I noticed the seal did not fit in the rear cover really snug. I was able to push out by hand. Also, sliding the seal over the shaft/race did not seem really tight as well. Any suggestions? All help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried a new seal? Don't use amazon/ebay crap ones.

Just curious, did you add silicone to the inner primary bolt HEADS to keep them from leaking?
I just did my IP seals and gaskets and am getting a small leak as well. Just waiting to confirm.
I used AFTERMARKET gaskets so maybe there's only one solution.....use HD only.

Nothing wrong with Genuine James gaskets and seals. I've used them over the years and have had no problems. HD is also fine, but a little more pricy and not always readily available.

When you install the primary seal, be sure you have it installed in the correct direction. It's not always obvious how it goes and can easily be installed backwards, leading to a leak. The seal is to keep oil in the primary, so the seal lip should be positioned accordingly.

Seal lip with spring goes toward clutch basket or oil side, correct?

No more leaks for my bike. All of my lip seals and orings are holding just fine. I had to remove the main cover JAMES gasket clean it and apply "the right stuff" on the gasket. No leaks so far.
Next time I'm going with HD gaskets except the cometic double lip shift seal which appears to be bullet proof.
To each his own

Default Seal.

Is that behind the nut? Where would oil come from?
