2022 Ultra Limited. I have installed a detachable t-pak, now I am keeping get error codes pop up (t-pak is taken off), b1342 (Rear left speaker open) and b1350 (Rear right speaker open). No idea what are those really mean. It is really annoying. What could I do about? Thanks.
It senses the resistance that is normally measured on those pins is different than expected, due to the speakers being disconnected (when you remove the tour pack). It will set "current" codes every time you disconnect the rear speakers, and become a "historic" code once all connections are restored. You could possibly make a set of dummy plugs, to be inserted in the harness after tour pack removal, with the correct value resistor across the connection pins; all this to make the system believe the speakers are plugged in/operational.
Yes, I put t-pack back and connect the harness, no more codes threw out. I am thinking the same way as you suggested, but it is weird. Suppose I clear it once and it shall not throw code anymore. Thanks for your help.
Before you take your tour pack off (and rear speakers), go into your fader on your stereo and move the fader all the way forward, to the front speakers. I have had this on my '16 RGU... and since I started moving the fader to the front speakers I do not get those codes.
Do all codes throw a check engine light on an HD....??
On one of my cars, forget which one as it was years ago, the service manual said only issues that could affect the emissions or safety (like ABS) will trigger a solid check engine light. If the check engine light was flashing, it was a critical issue and should be checked ASAP with little driving of the car...
I always thought the HD bikes were similar...
I just had the tour pak off my '16 bagger for 4 months... no check engine light, so I never thought to check for codes....
It wouldn't concern me if I had a code, knew the cause, the cause wasn't critical, and it didn't trigger a check engine light..
None of the ones I had related to the tour pack being off ever caused the CEL to come on. If I hadn't checked for codes I would have never known. Some would even clear themselves when I put the tour pack back on. For instance, I would also get B2151 & B2156 when the tour pack was off, for the rear signal lights when I had the HD Electra Glo Keystone lights, because they won't flash when the security arms (like the fronts signals do) and the bike thinks the bulbs are burned out, and with the tour pack on it's light bar would flash on arming... Those codes would also go away on their own when I put the tour pack back on. So I put CD's FillerZ in and that stopped when the tour pack was off, because they do flash when the bike arms.
I would also get the speaker DTC the OP is talking about, but I do not remember seeing a code for them if I move my fader all the way to the front speakers before taking the tour pack off. But I agree, it wouldn't concern me.
I got the rear signal light's codes for a couple years, but I knew why they were there... so I never worried about it because they worked fine except for the quirky thing when the security armed, and they would not flash... and there was another issue that was caused by the same thing, the emergency flashers wouldn't flash on the back of the bike (the Electra Glo Keystones) if you turned the ignition off. Anyways, I went with the FillerZ and problem solved all together
It is not the Check Engine Light on, it is the Security/Fault Indication Light on. The speaker error itself does not affect the riding, but when the light goes on, I have to pull over to make sure it is not for any other issue.
I agree with you. If the light is not on, I really don't care the error code, since it does not affect the riding. The light keeps [pop up on, that is annoying.
I did a test. I put the t-pack on and connected the speakers, the error codes become history. I cleared both codes, and turn the ignition on, no codes, moved the fader all the way to the front, and now I disconnected the speakers, turn off the bike. Turned the ignition on again, the codes appeared as current. I think the 22 FLHTK is much more smarter!
