Protect primary case from bike drop?
I bought a primary cover guard from eGlideGoodies and when it arrived I took it out to my bike to see how it will fit. After looking at it I am not sure I want to install it.
I am worried that if (when) it is impacted it might damage the inner case. The engine guard uses two of the bolts that hold the primary case cover to the main primary assembly case (part numbers below). It is damage to the main primary case that I am worried about. An impact on the bolts could crack the main primary case behind the clutch and stator.
I'd rather buy a new primary case (part#25700491) for something like $295.95 than possibly damage the primary assembly case (part#36500052A) for $473.09 plus a ton of labor!
What do you guys think? Mount the guard or not?

They got two wheels, you ride enough they fall. I drop mine, and it doesn't bother me. With front and rear guards, it has never been an issue. Never worried about the primary. If it is scratched it is on the bottom where I don't notice.
$400 for a gurard to protect the engine guard. A guard for a guard. Just buy another guard. Though I get that this is quick to replace. but $400?? I bent mine hitting a deer got one off ebay.

I sorry but first thing that comes to mind is wtf. I get it want to protect the bike. But there is a limit. Engine guards. Some like the bag Guards I do not. Wrap it in bubble wrap and keep it in the garage.
Sometimes you just have to except the fact **** can happen and ride anyway.
55-60 mph 100 plus feet slide rolled over. Primary good to go. Now the Tour pack was in another zip code.

I think it would be good to know the year and model of your motorcycle. That way we would know what trim is currently on it before rendering judgement on mounting said accessory.
If that piece is cast and not billet, it will snap rather quickly when it impacts something.
Did you buy it with your tax refund money?
