I understand that Skyline supports Apple Carplay but not Android Auto. I know something similar happened when they released Boom GTS but they eventually added Android. For me thats a complete deal breaker. I love the tech on HDs and I use my Samsung phone for streaming music and using google maps as my nav system. And having the screen look natively like my phone is a big plus.
Also looks like HD is now supporting Cardo for their coms (at least on the CVOs) - does Skyline work with all coms units now without needing an additional $$$ module ?
I also think there will be good money for the first vendor who comes up with a way to add Analog gauges to the Skyline models. I mean, I get the whole digital thing but I'm def an analog guy and i'm sure there are MANY out there that would like to see some analog added to the big screen skyline bikes.

Dealer told me they all work now without a WHIM. As for AndroidAuto, can't fault HD for that because Android dropped support for AA on motorcycles. One bone of contention I have is that on the regular models you need to pay to unlock Navigation. Not a big deal for Apple users, we can just use CarPlay with our favorite app, but it forces AA users to pony up for nav on the main screen. Their other option is to rely on their phone mounted on the bars. I forgot to ask what Nav software is in SkylineOS.

The move to support Cardo is a good one IMHO.
notice also that the $349 charge for embedded nav on the ifcu is only good for 3 years. no mention of how much to renew or how long that would be good for.
I'm wondering if the SG/RG come with NAV enabled...
Looking at the section on navigation in the owner's manual for the '24 Road and Street Glide, I noticed that it shows (if equipped). The term 'if equipped' leads me to believe that it may be an option. And, it goes on to state, if the NAV icon isn't available, you'll be prompted to obtain a subscription. (See the snip from the manual below).
As mentioned above, Harley offers an Embedded Navigation function for the radio.. This appears to be an enhanced type of NAV that shows real time weather etc. It requires that you have a cell phone and set it up as a WiFi hot spot allowing the radio to communicate with the internet. It costs $350.00 https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...ion/p/76100034 Is this the 'pay to unlock' thing the dealers are selling
?
Anyway... I know it's kind of early, but I'm thinking of getting a '24 Road Glide and I'm wondering if the NAV will work, or will I be spending more money on a subscription?? Does anyone know if NAV is enabled by default?
Unfortunately it's not HD that dropped Android Auto, it's Android that dropped support for motorcycles in general. That being said, I wonder if Skyline would see the android device as a USB drive and at least play music from it? I know that doesn't have anything to do with navigation but at least it's something.

I'm calling bullshit on HD (not you or anyone here) on this factoid they provided to someone calling their support or whatever, that now seems to have become gospel on these forums. Android Auto is a projection into the HU from an Android phone. In the original 2023 CVO reveal videos there was clearly an AA icon, that has since been removed. Google could care less if it's a "motorcycle". As a matter of fact, the newly announced Soundstream Reserve V2 has AA support, and that is certainly going into nothing other than motorcycles. Same with many other new products supporting AA, another is the Chigee AIO-5, also specifically designed for motorcycles. There's also Navicam, Maxcam, and surely others doing the same.
I think HD was too lazy or incapable of figuring out how to get the projection right in a display that comprised multiple elements, and Google wasn't going to work with them on a non-standard HU projection. Or maybe HD just didn't want to pay their licensing fees.

GM is dropping both platforms. For our safety. Seems that the stupid people have ruined it for the rest of us. So I'm not surprised that AA bailed on motorcycles. Oh well, iPhone is better than Android anyway. 🤣
