I bought an ebay special and it sounds and works well, from what I hear it is as good as the more expensive ones and cheap enough to have several. Gearelec If you get the GX 12 version its Mesh which means a great deal if you use more than 2. Non Mesh is a pain with 3 or more riders, essentially what you get with non Mesh is you pretty much have to decide you all want to be on and talking non stop. No one person can just drop out and come back, listen to music, GPS etc..Your stuck in Comm mode just because how they work, they daisy chain together to work with more than two.. With 2 riders in Non Mesh you can do whatever you want, listen to music, GPS, talk back and forth and each person can do their own thing. Mesh works like that all the time. Now saying that...I do NOT have the Mesh GX12 I have a Gearelec Gmax which works good but Non Mesh. Communication is great unless there is excessive wind or distance then it gets choppy but its never caused and issue other than my wife saying what did you say repeat. But typically 95% its perfectly fine. Word of advice, when mounting the speakers be sure they are actually over your ear not set forward or back, I have a helmet that the indents were high and back and it sounded terrible. I just moved them to proper spot. Another helmet indents for speakers were perfect. We typically ride in silence other than if we need to stop or to give some details as to whats ahead. came in handy going through customs as we could hear what the other told the customs officer. Its a nice feature to use when needed, we are lucky as neither of us are chatty on it.

actually I had to convince her to get em as I was tired of waiting at every stop sign, light etc asking if all was ok. She didn't want them to avoid phone calls, but now for obvious reasons she is glad she can ask me to stop for a break.
first question to ask is how much do you want to integrate it into your bike? if you want full functionality, then you need a whim and hd branded sena comms. i would recommend at least a 30k as the mesh is super simple to use.
if all you want to do is to communicate back and forth, and don't care about full integration into the bike, then you obviously have more options.
*** full functionality would include being able to control everything through your hd boom audio, music, volumes, voice control, etc.
that being the case, then first and foremost, what do your friends use? you will have less issues if you all are running the same stuff. if you/they haven't bought comms yet, then pick one and go for it. i recommend something with mesh. it is so easy, just press a button and you're connected. i understand that there are more/better choices for speakers with the cardo if music would be a consideration.
