Anyone else have any issues with the Dunlop tires the dealer sells in the rain?
was out yesterday and the bike got loose 4 times. First one I thought maybe oil from the gas station as I just filled up but three more. Definitely caused some pucker. Wondering if it was a fluke or if the tires are known for this.
Was a good rain and could not tell if the road had ponding or not.
thank s everyone.
I believe they are the factory tires. I use to run elites and a few years back switched out as the dealer was out. First issue I have had. Tires were new but this was at the end of a 3500 mile trip.

How old and how many miles on the tires? my 04 fatboy has the standard Dunlop tires with about 4k miles on them and 4 yrs old, they get. squirrelly in the rain. I will be changing them out in the spring for something else.
They were new at the start of my trip. Did it 3500 total probably around 3000 when I experienced this.
At 3000 miles the tires were definitely well scrubbed, so it has nothing to do with tire newness or tire mold release agents on the tires.
The American Elites are usually much better in the rain than the OEM Dunlops.
Then again, any tire can get squirrelly in the rain. Weather conditions (light mist, heavy downpour), driving style, road surface, road construction, etc., all add to how a tire will handle.
IMHO, you would need to run the same road, in the same weather, on the same bike to really compare one tire to another accurately...

I have never had an issue with the Dunlops, but with that said if there is a problem is there a visible problem with the tires, or just slick? Maybe you did pickup something from gas station but you would think it would have came off by the 2, 3 or even 4th time depending on the time interval between first time and 4th time.
Back end got loose? Or did the front end slip? These bikes have massive torque and it doesn't take much throttle to loose grip....don't care what tire you're on.
I've run many brands over the years, the Dunlops whether OEM, American Elites, Elite 3 or 4's are my go to tire. Long lasting, good grip in the rain. I should know as my nickname is Darkcloud as it always rains on my trips.
