Hello Folks,
I ride a '05 RoadKing all year long, live in Colorado.
I ride from 15 deg F to 100+ degF, what engine oil
do you reccomend?
I'm currently using HD 20W 50.
Thanks, Gus
Check out the oil section, loads of views on oil. 20W50 fully synthetic Amsoil, Redline or Mobile will be just fine for the engine. Gear oil in the gears, MTL in the primary.
20/50 would work fine. Any sustained riding in 100* temps would probably be better off with 20/60 for a bit more protection. Some even use straight 50Wt in hot temps.
Amsoil 20w-50 in engine, Amsoil 75w-90 in the transmission, and either Amsoil 20w-50 or HD Formula + in the primary. You really don't need to spend the money for synthetic for the primary, the formula + is just fine. I started off with the Amsoil in the primary, but had a small leak at the drain plug, when I removed the plug to fix it, I had to add the formula +, since my Amsoil guy was closed and HD was open. I am sure either will be fine. Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask any question you may have. never a dumb question, but you might get some smart @ss replies. LOL Also, check out the search feature, as this might help you find answers to your questions. And don't forget to figure out how to post pics of your ride. We all love to see them.
