Default Extended Service Plan

What are people's thoughts and experiences with Harley's extended service plan? The new Road Glide Limited I bought only comes with a two-year warranty on the power train. If I want the electronics under a warranty, I have to purchase and extended service plan.

The service plan covers a lot like free services, battery coverage, motel rooms and food if broke down on a trip, ext. I'm not interested in any of that. I just wish the warranty would cover drive train and electronics but that's not the way it works if you want a new Harley.

I think I'm just going to roll the dice and not get one, I don't buy extended warranty on anything else and I'm money ahead in life by not doing so. Also, if I did need it, it would probably be a stress filled fight full of anxiety to get them to cover anything.

Contact Jim Palmer at Motorcycle Agent. He can explain what coverages are available, how it works and give you a quote.

^^This.

A lot depends on how many miles you ride a year. If you ride 3K/year probably not worth it. If you ride 30K a year, probabl worth it.

But Jim Palmer will give you better coverage for longer at better prices. I had no problem making a claim when my water pump went out last summer. Easy peasy, $0 out of pocket for the repair.

Brand new bike has a 2yr warranty on everything (shy of wear items), not just powertrain. The finance guy lied to you trying to get you to buy their extended warranty.

Harley extended plan covers drivetrain and electronics unless something has changed lately. Never heard of it covering any vehicle scheduled maintenance. Harley extended plan doesn't cover the battery.

Everything on the bike including electronics is covered under your new bike 2yr warranty. Only thing excluded are wear items.

Maybe the dealer is trying to sell you a in house plan!

Did you buy it new? According to the H-D website the factory warranty still covers everything on a new bike for 2 years, not just the powertrain, and it’s been that way on every new H-D I’ve purchased. I’m curious who told you it only covers the powertrain.

I think you are smart not to get the warranty. I always passed on it and have never been sorry. Being stuck with Harley service would suck. Only time they touch my bike is for a recall.
