i just installed some new kuryakyn footpegs and i'm heading off for a long weekend ride in 2 days.... should i locktite the screws? I put on a set of the floorboards that have about 8 screws in each one........
nope - had my Kuryakyns on my Sportie for three years - 16K plus miles never fell off- (rigid mount motor 2001 1200C)...just kept a wrench handy though...
I just lost my heel shifter at about 75 mph the other day on a 350 mile road trip. 61 dollars later and some blue lock tight, all set, and when I returned the 350 miles and is loose again. damn harleys....
IMO, if your going to wrench on your own bike invest in a Factory Service Manual, correct torque wrenches, and a selection of purple, blue, and red threadlocker.
The vibration from these bikes will cause fasteners to work loose; and usually when you least expect it!
And yes, it could save your A$$ on critical fasteners!

same thing happened to me. someone on the forum said to put a drop of oil under the bolt for the clamp then retighten it. you should get another flat or 2 i think. i retightened mine without any oil and got about 2 flats (1/4 turn) worth. 200-300 miles later it has not loosened up any.
and yes....i blue locktite everything that i have added to my bike.
