so i was having this discussion with this dude, he was saying how he was customizing his bike. all he was doing was adding chrome bits, maybe changing the seat and shocks. i said that he was not customizing, that he was 'personalizing'. in my mind theres a difference, customizing involves some kind of work, whereas personalizing involves taking something someone else made and bolting it on.....
Customize - to modify or build according to individual or personal specifications or preference
Personalize - to make personal, as by applying a general statement to oneself
He personalized his bike by customizing it. How he customized his bike was his personal statment.

A true Custom, cant be built with store bought parts, well thats what I use to think. Today "custom bikes" are everywhere built with parts bought from different vendors, so his is or should be considered a custom if the others are. IMO anyway. If you want to nit pick, I guess he added custom touches to his stock bike, but really who cares long as he's happy.
