Does the Acronym FLHR actually have a meaning for each letter or is it just a designation Harley pulled out of the air? I know it sounds stupid, but I'm curious. Thanks in advance
FL is the designation of the size of the front tire which is 16 inches. H is the part of touring. For example FLSTF IS FOR A FAT BOY.FL IS TIRE SIZE,ST T IS SOFT TAIL FAT BOY. FLSTN IS 16 INCH SOFT TAIL NOSTALGIC FLHTC IS THE ELECTRA GLIDE CLASSIC. FLHTCUI WAS FOR ELECTRA GLIDE TOURING CLASSIC ULTRA INJECTED. THIS DESIGNATION IS NOW FLHTCU AS THERE ARE NO MORE ULTRAS THATHAVE CARBS WHERE AS BACK IN THE SEVENTIES AND EARLY EIGHTIES THEY HAD CARBS SO THEY ADDED THE "I" TO DENOTE FUEL INJECTION. HOPE THIS HELPS. THERE ARE A TOTAL OF 38 DIFFERENT ACTIVE DESIGNATIONS. FLHTCUSE IS THE ULTRA SCREAMING EAGLE AND A 3 OR 3 AFTER THE E INDICATES SECOND OR THIRD GENERATION. IT CAN GET COMPLICATED.
First letter = engine size F Big engine - 80 to 88 cubic inches or 1340 to 1450 CCs.
