A friend of mine can not ride a motorcycle, and she asked me if I knew anything about trikes. I do not, so I thought I would put this out there. She has a problem with her ankles, so a trike would be a good fix.
Just last night was talking with an old friend to recently traded his 2 wheels for a trike... Was saying it was OK but misses his 2 wheels as a trike will not keep up with the pack... Has to be steered around corners much like pushing a bull by the horns as he discribed it.. but on the other had is nice to come up to a stop and not have to put any feet down.
He also mentioned that although some creature features were nice that the downside was highway control at speeds takes some getting used to.. The trike has a habit of forcing a rider to twist around their hips as it sets on the road at the roads contour so a rider has to adjust..
I thought I saw a trike that leans with the turns. This would solve the problem of feeling like you are wrestling a bull on the turns. But to date I can not find it.
I dont think a trike will solve the problem unless I am mistaking the problem. The only thing a trike does is keep you from puttimg your feet down. You must still operate the brake and clutch as normal along with shifting the gears. You may want to look into ridley.com. They make a very low seat height bike that is very goodlooking and has an automatic transmission. It is calles the Ridley. A friend of mines wife is only 4 ft 11 and weighs 90 pounds and does real well with it.Go to ridley.com to chech it out.
Good friend of mine just had his bike "triked " and loves it ! He is 69 years old, and arthritic knees and loves to ride, but could no longer feel comfortable supporting a big bike , especially with his wife on board ! He went with the Champion setup .
