Default Does anyone have..

...the passenger grab rails, P/N 91583-99 on an Ultra w/mounted rear speakers. The Moco parts catalog says that they do not fit if you have the rear speakers, however; I have seen pictures of bikes with the rear speakers and the grab rails. Does anyone have this configuration? I was thinking about getting them for Momma and as an additional tie down point when she's not riding. How about the handrail covers P/N 91668-05?

Also, a friend/salesman recommended the adjustable rider backrest, those who have it, whatcha think? Thanks.

Hi Rick,
To my understanding, they stopped putting the grab rail on Ultras with the 05 models, said they interfered with the speakers or something like that. Some of the guys here have put them on anyway by bending them a little to get past the speakers. I'm trying to win one on Ebay now, I am going to put it on my 06 Ultra the same way. I think it helps the passenger getting on and off, plus gives them some where to hold onwhen they feel they need it, if I win the bid and do get it on I will post with pictures. I personally think the grab rail covers look good on the bike, not sure if they are really all that functional or not, but I like the looks. The adjustable rider backrest is a must have, would not leave home without it or have a bike without it on ever again, it makes a world of difference in how much better you feel at the end of a long day of riding and allows you something to just lean back against and stretch your legs out on the highway pegs comfortably and enjoy the ride. Just my 2 cents worth of course, but what do I know.

I am almost certain that the rear speakers for 07 and up Ultras are bigger than they were in the past. That might be the reason they work on older models, but not current models.

The stopped putting them on the Ultras in '06, not sure why............but they will sell you one for like $140.

I have no clearance issues on my '05 with the rear speakers and the grab handles.

Will that passenger grab bar fit on a Road King?

They fit just fine with the rear speakers installed.

Not sure what you ride but I have both the chrome grab rail and chrome grab rail covers on my '07 Ultra. My guess is HD indicates they don't fit hte '07's because there may be clearance issues if you ride with the King Tour Pack in the up position. No problem with the King Tour Pack in the back position.

Why did Harley discontinue providing as Original Equipment?? It might be the Tour Pak clearance issue in the up position or it may be the cost savings of replacing this chrome component with a vinyl strap. May be both.
