I want to send in my Ulta seat and have it lowered 1 1/2 inches.(reach seat)I plan on having memory foam put in it. Has anyone done this? Are you happy with the memory foam? Opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
I had my stock seat lowered and the sides contoured and memory foam installed and I now have one of the best seats that I have sat on currently on the motorcycle. I would assume that you are having Allen do this at "Mean City Cycles" can't go wrong there in my opinion!
Ive seen a lot of posts from guys who had their seat redone by meancity cycles??? I think,,
all seemed happy, and I'm thinkin of it for this winters project.
Memoryfoam comes in many different density. so do your research before buying. There are lots of sales people out there with memory foam for brains and will sell you anything to make sale. Personally i would stick with manufacture of seats...I have a Gel solo Corbin seat. very comfy on long hauls.. Hell you don't want to waste your moneyto modifiy your seat, only to find youdon't like it.
Found a place on eBay that was selling both gel and memory foam for the DIYers. In the end, I shipped them my seat and had them do the work, and couldn't be happier - excellent customer service and quality of work:
Trust Allen at Mean city.........he knows seats well, i did it to mine on my 06 roadie and its wonderful, before at 200 miles my butt was numb, so far "and this is after back surg" i havent done more than 350 miles in a day but that was cause wife was shopping, and NO Numbness.....
Love the seat after getting it back from Mean City Cycles. I had the double decker memory foam done cause I weigh 240 lbs and after awhile the stock foam was breaking down on me. It's all good now, the seats an all dayer.
Thanks for the replys. Mean City Cycles is the place I was referring to. Glad to hear good reports. I understand he uses hospital grade memory foam. I used to belong toa VTX board and Allen has done a lot of seats therefor happy customers. It's good to know he continues the same good work with HD seats.
