I'm not sure how anyone can give an honest response with the little bit of information you have. Questions I would want to know are:
Has the engine/trans/primary had any work done to it and when?
What is the overall condition of the bike?
Are there any service records for it?
What is the compression reading?
How does it ride?
How does it look (paint/chrome shiney)?
What condition are the brakes/tires?
What extras are included?
Carb or FI?
Is that the dealerships best price or can you negotiate?
I wouldn't worry about the things that appear incorrect (wheels, saddlebag guards, tank emblem). People change that stuff all the time in the name of personalization. There is nothing wrong with a good running Evo if the price is right. If the bike is basically stock and has just been ridden for 60K miles with minimal work, then I agree the price is high.
Help us help you by trying to get more information on it. It may not be a bad deal.
Looking to buy this bike from a dealer but don't know if the money they're asking is appropriate for it's milage. IS IT WORTH IT?!!! Suggestions would be highly appreciated.
If the difference between the average retail price (I prefer kbb.com) and the asking price is 10%, then you can negotiate this bike down to what it's worth. That will mean attention to physical appearance, service records, upgrades, riding area (road salt? unheated garage?), and a little money for YOUR independent mechanic to evaluate the bike. Doing your homework may lead to a great bike at a great price. I don't think you'll find that by passing the bike up due to ahigh asking price. The asking price is just a starting point. Everyone wants more - the question is, what is fair?
I've seen '01 and '02 ultras on craiglist here with half the miles for around the same price or a little less. Pass and keep looking for something with 20-30k on it. Good luck on your search.
