Default 99 Ultra question

Got a buddy back home that trades his 96 wide glide in on a 99 Ultra Classic, He was trying to git the seat off and notised a spring under the back tour pack and was asking what it the spring for. He wanted to git to the bolt holding the seat on. Anybody got any answers . Thanks !

Someone will correct me if I am wrong...

The spring is supposed to be connected to the passenger headset plug. It keeps the plug in place.

Default RE: 99 Ultra question

The spring is attached to the head set hook up for the passenger and allows the plug to be pulled out/spring loaded to make it easy to plug in the head set while seated. It is not attached to the seat. A long screwdriver can be used to remove the phillips screw that holds the seat by running it between the tour-pak and back part of the seat. You can also purchase a thumb screw to replace the phillips which then allows for finger tip removal without a screw driver. Any HD dealer will have the thumb screw. You dont really need it. I dont use mine so the seat can just be lifted out of the bracket that goes under the tank.
