Check this out. Just got back from Saigon. Took a video of me going through traffic. Wasn't that bad. Just gassed the Road Glide and everybody cleared out. Can't wait to go back. T.
Man, it was no where near that bad last time I was in Saigon, course that was back in 69/70. I only got there 4 or 5 time in my 13 months. I seen a Discovery special on it a few months back & they said there were more bikes in Vietnam than autos. Now I understand what they mean.
I could only imagine that kind of driving in Washington DC. It would take the first few months to clean out the arrogant and from then on, no more traffic jams.
Saigon is pre-commy take over. Ho Chi Minh City is the name now I believe.
You can follow the communist line if you wish. For most of us VN vets, it will always be Saigon, as well as for quite a few residents. After the war ended the North Vietnamese moved in a large number of people to take over all the businesses and residences. They have now figured out that pure communism is a financial disaster, and private business and tourism is now encouraged. I've been back three times in the last seven years, and the traffic has to be experienced to be believed. They have a helmut law, but it is not enforced.
