Been riding my 2000 softail standard since Nov of 1999. Will never get rid of it unless a major (and I Mean major) financial issue comes up with the wife and kids. So here is the question, I'm looking at buying a touring bike in the next 2 years, I really like the electra glides bat wing fairing but have heard a lot of good stuff about the road glide. If you were to invest the $$$$ based on just comfort and overall performance, which would it be????? Before I purchase, I will ride both, but wanted to see the opinion of people here who have ridin one or the other. Throw looks out the window on this one.
I guess it is personal preference...I myself have rode both and I like the batwing then again it is what I like.....We all could brag about ours being the greatest, but in the end it will be which one you like the best.....
Sold my 99 Wide Glide for my 07 Electra glide and have no regrets. I didn't like the look of the Roadie front end, but I have to say it will be my next purchase.... I am truley happy with the batwing for now.
I went from my 05 FXD to my now current 07 Roadie. I absolutely love it! Ride, comfort, style...everytyhing about it. That being said, mine is the only RG in our riding group. Couple UC's, SG, RK,and a Heritage. I can not say anything bad about the other glides because I love them too. I was also torn between the RG and the EG when I bought mine. Like said, it really comes down to what you like. Sit on and/or ride both.
The RG may handle winds slightly better and may give you a bit roomier feel sitting on it, but with the batwing bike, I have noticed there seems to be more option and aftermarket parts avail. It is also that "classic" Harley style. But you will see them EVERYWHERE!
What I wish is that the Moco would put out isa ROAD GLIDE ULTRA CLASSIC model. All the bells and whistleswith a RG fairing.
