I'm looking to buy a 2008 streetglide but I keep dragging my feet waiting for some free accessoriesor anything to sweeten the deal. I was thinking that they would offer something during the month of Dec. They still have a few days left or do you think that a better deal could be made in January when everyone is paying off there Christmas bills. Just checking to see what everone thinks.
I think you'll have a decent chance to get them to sweeten things up on 12/31, but after that'll it'll be back to status quoe.
Do you have multipe dealerships to check? Figure out EXACTLY what you want and go ask for - very clearly. Do not barter or bargin. Simply ask if they will do it "right now". If not, turn around & walk out & don't look back. Then try another dealer.
You gotta be very lucky to get the lowest price available.
This is how I lucked out.
This is NOT exactly what you are doing, but it really worked for me. I found the bike that I wanted--a left over--followed it on line. On the last day of the dealers year to sell before he knows the next year's alllotment--I gave him an offer of 500 below MSRP. We did business.
Make sure you get the best total "out the door" price. There are lots of ways a dealer can make the bike cheaper by increasing another cost somewhere else. Dealers in St Louis are offering extras like lifetime tires, lifetime oil changes, etc. Maybe you can negotiate something like that as well.
i was told by my dealer that the best time to buy with a discount is july /august as they are trying to clear out all current models to make room for the new ones
I had good luck purchasing in March.
Also, check prices online. The dealer I purchased from, matched the price an out of state dealer offered me. Much better deal that what they originally offered.
Harley Davidson of Cool Springs in Franklin, Tenn, just south of Nashville, is flush with bikes. Don't know their situation, but if you are from out of town they might cut a deal. Sometimes companies will do such a thing. The "cheap" deal leaves town & the localsare non the wiser. I don't know if the people at Cool Springs think or work this way, but you might give them a try. You both have something to gain if they want to work with you.
