Hey folks, I just bought a 2004 Road Glide, the only thing that sucks, is we just got 9" of snow, and I haven't even been able to ride it yet!
Anyway, Hi to you all, and I'm glad to be part of the Harley owners again!
Question. I am 6'5" tall, and I would like to make the bike a little more comfortable for myself. Any other lurches out there, who have done mods to their touring bikes, for comfort?
I'm 6'3, and I ride and EG. Best thing I did was get a Corin Dual Tour Seat. It moves you back 1" off the gas tank...make all adjustments from there. If you plan on riding any distance, the stock seat won't be much fun, it will leave you with hot spots on yer fanny...mine did.
After that, highway pegs (haven't gotten mine yet), and perhaps a handlebar change if your sore after rides. I'm tight high in my back (between my shoulder blades), so I have a Wild1 Chubby W0575 bar on order.
I am in the process of buying and my original want was a RG. I like the looks of the "shark nose" fairing and the absence of the top box. I have not ridden one but they have a really neat looking black pearl at my dealers. I was told that the fixed fairing doesn't do a real good job of prtecting from the wind. I really don't mind a little wind but I want to be able to hear the radio. I wear a helmet and have a little hearing problem (oldandcranky). I am going in thursday to buy an ultra but would like to get a bit of a review from some one who has ridden the RG if possible. If you had it to do again would you stick with the RG?
thanks in advance
bob
Thanks everyone!
I will be ordering the extended brake pedal. I already ordered some highway pegs, and will hopefully be getting them soon. I will definately look into the seat also, I like the idea of moving back 1".
Don't worry about the wind. If you are a little tall you might want to purchase a tall windshield. I ride a 2000 Screamin Eagle Tourglide with the short black windshield but then again I love the wind in my face. You'll love the fairing on the RG. Makes the front end feel lighter since it is fixed and not bolted to your forks. Much more stable ride.
