Too Cool
Over the last couple of years my wife as mentioned in passing that someday she may want a bike. Everytime I tried to get her to go look she backed away and that was fine....ni pushing here. This Friday however after discussing it a little and looking at the HD website we finally stopped in at the dealer.
She looked at and sat on (a first as she always thought bikes were too big for her) a 105th anniversary Sportster 1200 Low. Love at first sit. We will be closing the deal later this month and she will be taking rider training as soon as the snow is gone.
I decided to trade my beloved Ducati in on this bike and she was worried about that but you know it doesn't bother me a bit. This is much much better than that could ever be. She is now talking about short trips and looking at accessory catalgues...another first.
WooHoo

Congrats to both of you.
My wife took the class with me. I bought her an 07 1200 L for Valentines days. After a few minor set backs she is now riding it and we are having a great time.
I have learned that she may not want it as bad as I want it for her so sometimes I have to back off a little.
Let her take her time. There are several post here that she can read to help her build her confidance. Good Luck.

I think this is great. Sure wish my wife would at least ride with me once in a while. She hates bikes.
This is a very smart move Paulw... Congrats

You'll enjoy the trips with your wife....you'll always have a built in riding partner!! Riding with my boyfriend is the best thing I've done in a long time...a great hobby/sport to do together! Congrats to your wife on her new bike...

when i bought my sporty i was still in the army. well, in order to ride on post, you have to take the msf course. good thing is they pay for it. so i had the wife take it with me. long story short, after riding bitch on my own bike i bought her one, an 03 883 custom. fast forward a couple of years and i'm getting ready to retire. she feels that after all the crap i've put up with in the military, i deserve a touring bike (yes! i love this woman) so she buys me a road king custom. she wants to ride it but is intimidated by its massive size. so after about 6 months, she finally says 'let me ride it' so i take her to the school parking lot to let her ride around without having to worry about traffic. i can tell she's nervous, but after about 3 laps around, she's grinning up a storm. after that she rides it a couple times, in traffic.
next thing i know, i'm buying her an 07 road king custom......
i guess the point is, careful what you wish for, it just might come true and cost you big $$$$.
nah, i'm kidding, i love my wife having her own bike. that way, i can set up my bike exactly the way i want it, without having to worry about a passenger. (oh, and tell your wife that my wife says the road king is easier to ride than the sporty
)

My wife use to ride and last early last year she wanted her own bike. Not problem with me. Since it had been amy years since she has rode by her self I got a small training bike. For a month she praticed but now the bike has just sat there for 10 months. She keeps say she will take a riding course but hasn't yet. I think it's very cool for the wife/girl friend to ride to. Don't push her, let here to it on her own time.

Very cool indeed.
My wife didn't know what my bike looked like for the first couple months.
She has sat on it once about a year ago.
Never wanted to go for a ride.
Once mentioned she wanted a bike, but not denies it [&:]
Congratulations on your new riding partner.
