Default Cam Only

How much of an advantage is it to change cam on 96 with only high flow and mufflers? Is it worth the effort and cost?

I was leaning towards this option myself but decided to go to a full 103". That was based on knowing that I would want more.

Regardless a simple cam change can add some nice power and is a relatively simple installation. Take a look at Head-quarters.com for the HQ 500C. Here is a link to dyno sheet for the 500C cams but note they are installed on a police bike with a 103. The important part is they are the stock heads and compression so I consider it accurate. http://www.head-quarters-usa.com/casestudy2.html

I also heard the SE 204's will work as well in the 88 motors. Not sure on the 96.

It will not be a whole lot,but that is how it goes. The only way to see dramatic changes,is more cubes.
