I was leaning towards this option myself but decided to go to a full 103". That was based on knowing that I would want more.
Regardless a simple cam change can add some nice power and is a relatively simple installation. Take a look at Head-quarters.com for the HQ 500C. Here is a link to dyno sheet for the 500C cams but note they are installed on a police bike with a 103. I also heard the SE 204's will work as well in the 88 motors. Not sure on the 96.
