Default Need some windshield advice....

Hey everyone,

I have a '08 Streetglide and it currently has a Cee Baileys ssc 8" windshield on it. I am about 6'2" tall and with a full face helmet the 8" shield is great. Today I took my first ride on it with a half helmet and the wind noise and wind coming at my face was terrible at anything over 50mph. I ran it up to 75 mph on the interstate and I thought my head was gonna blow off my shoulders ......I was wondering if you guys could recommend something that would be better for taking trips on the interstate while using my half helmet? I saw that Harley sells a 15" tall screen but didn't know if you had any other suggestions for me to try? I really like my ssc shield when riding with a full face helmet plus I like the way it looks. I'm probably gonna need a 12-15" shield judging by how the wind is hitting my face now. Thanks.

I have exactly the same issue in reverse, 07 Street Glide, Cee Baileys windshield (Got the shorter one too, didn't like thevibration of the 12 inch), 6'1", but the wind gets me acting like a bobblehead with the full face and not the half. I'm going to take the seat down about an inch and a half in hopes of getting under the windstream. Klockwerks is coming out with a batwing windshield but I don't know if it would work better or diffrent than the Cee Baileys. Good luck!

I have heard many good things about the Clearview recurve on here throwing the airflow up and over your head, I called them and ordered mine last month becausethey were raising pricesFeb 1 on their windshields,an 8 inch light smoke recurve, but have not had the chance to try it first hand because my '08 SG won't even be delivered until late March.

Give them a call if you have any questions, they are really nice people to deal with, I left a voicemail and they called me back within an hour and I spent about 20 minutes just bullshi**ing with the guy on the phone.

Cee Bailey sells a 12 and 15" shield. When you say 8" do you really mean the stock 12" Cee Bailey that equals about 8-9" on account of the curve or do you really have an 8" shield?

I just went out and measured and I have the 12" ssc shield now. I am going to order a 15" ssc and see if that doesn't do it for me. If not then I guess I'll have to try another brand. Thanks guys.

Given what you said you will need a minimum 12 and most likely 15. I am talking HD windshields.

I installed the 8' w recurve on my black EG, I ordered w/ the dark tint. It installed in minutes and it looks really nice; the recurve seems to help w/ buffering. Good choice on your part, great quality item.

When you're seated on the bike where does the windshielf come up to? IE: your chin, nose, eye level, forehead, etc. ?

My windshield on my E-G is right at about my mouth or chin and I have minimal buffetting from wind. It varies a bit depending on the wind conditions when riding (wind speed/direction/angle that it's hitting me). Other times no buffetting at all.

i don't like to have to look THRU the windshield. I like to look over it (fog, etc makes you BLIND otherwise).

I ride mostly in Fl, no helmet law. 6'4" have a Clearview 8" recurve black and Coco Montoya sounds great at 85mph+! The only complaint I have (yeah, always gotta bitch a little) is that I have to stuff my braid down my shirt or it blows around and slaps me in the face
