Get the King pack, then you'll never say "I should have".If your going to use it all the time,go with the permanent mount.

I have an '07 Ultra, with King Tour-pak, and I use the thing lots - even around town. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

As for cost... I would go with OEM because you'll want to match the colour of your bike. Or do you? Anyway, do lots of shopping around; both in person or on the phone, and on the 'net.

Cheers

I agree with what has been said above. I have an Ultra and probably won't put the detach kit on. It's just to damn convenient.
In your case I would check to see the difference in the detach and standard mounting pricing. If it's not too much more I'd go with the detach just to give you the option being that you have to buy hardware anyway.
Go with the factory stuff and buy from a discount dealer.

I just put a King Pak on my 06 EGS. I put it on with a permanent mount because I didn't want my $1000 to walk off. Have not had the bike out yet with it on, but I am sure I will fill it up with stuff soon. Get it from Chicago HD they have the best price that I found. If you post in the classifieds that you want a permanent mount I am sure someone has one they will sell you cheep. My mount was $40 off here as apose to $200 plus for all the detachable hardware. You won't be disappointed with the purchase! Bryan

I would go with the King Tour pak,and if you are not going to use it all the time, get detachable hardware. I have a chopped and a King, Solo and 2 up detachable hardware, and I ride mostly with them stored in the garage. The bike is much lighter without the trunk, but it is nice to have when you are traveling.

Go on ebaymotors and look for tourpacks. Don't get discouraged. I scoped one for my standard even before I bought my standard. Mine was also a king, cushy backrest, chrome rack and detachable bracket for $ 750. Make sure it check Buy It Nows. Good Luck

I also have a 07 Standard. I went with the Copped Tour-Pak and Solo rack. If you have a wife or gf she will want the King Pak

If you ride with FF Helmet, go with the King. It holds 2 FF Helmets without a problem.
The extra room doesn't suck either
