Default Audio Volume Control

Anybody have problems with the audio volume control on the Advanced Audio System? I took delivery of the bike yesterday, rode it 7 miles to seat the rings, during this time I did adjust the volume on the radio. Today I was trying to learn about the audio system and discovered the volume adjust button was sort of hanging from the body and did not work, WTF?. I can't believe I pressed on it hard enough to dislodge it from what-ever it attaches to.

As a side note, I have the indicator light constantly on that indicates a problem with the security system. I noticed it yesterday; today I was unable to change the PIN, inputed by the dealer, to my PIN. How this wasn't picked up during the "test ride" I don't know. I've had the bike for less than 24 hours and need warranty work. At least is nothing critical. To cheer myself up, I did get out for a ride this afternoon (the security system indicator light was on the entire ride). Temperature was about 40, as indicated by a nearby bank clock, and the bike's air temperature gauge was spot on. I guess that's something to be happy for.

This morning I installed the J&M short antennas. I didn't try the CB; but the AM/FM antenna worked very well.

Bad luck Moby. No issue with any of the switches on my bike but my Oil Pressure guage wasn't connected when I picked it up.

Moby - sorry to hear about your issues, I'm sure your dealer will fix right away.

I am pretty certain they will; but it still pi***s me off. It put me in a bad mood all afternoon; the ride helped, then the gin helped some more, so I guess I'm pretty much healed, or at least numb.

I feel for you brother... Took my dealer months to fix problems for me and it gets me hot too. I understand how you feel. I didn't mean to take away from the emotion. LOL

I dropped my bike off Tuesday evening and expected to have a phone message when I got home Wednesday letting me know the bike was fixed. No message. I called this morning and was told the switch is on back order at Harley, and that they (Harley) have been having a lot of problems with them. The security system problem couldn't be fixed because the two issues are somehow related and the new switch needs to be installed. Fortunately the dealer located one switch in Massachusetts and it should be at the dealers by Tuesday. I find it hard to believe Harley is really having that many problems with the volume switch that they don't have any in stock.

If it's any consolation, MOST warranty claims like this seem to be within the first few hundred miles when someone is actually riding the bike for the first time. When I got mine home I was sooo proud, next morning there was a puddle of oil under her from a bad derby cover gasket. Back to the dealership. Then the battery died on me, had to have them come and get it, bench test showed it was faulty and it was replaced. [:@] 9,000 miles and all has been well ever since.

I understand and am not worried about the bike being properly repaired. I just don't understand how the Motor Company could be out of the switches. What kink of inventory control do they have?

The only solace is that most problems manifest themselves quickly. Once you're resolved these issues you'll probably be alright. Enjoy the ride.

I really feel lucky. The only thing that has ever been wrong with mine, 15,000 miles now, I was missing a rivet from one of the tour pack hinges.
