LOL - I had to chuckle at that pic. The force was obviously pulling you out with those snow banks still piled high.
We are getting slammed again today at least 8 inches since noon.
Next week a couple of days in the mid forties - hopefully with some rain to wash away the piles of salt I seen them spreading today.
With snow like that you will want to keep the Ford handy. I seen a bunch of chevy's with wheels up along the highway today. (a poke at jumpman )
Actually only did 160 km's, just enough to get my cheeks rosy. Kept it a short ride. Had to feel the bike out, it is alot bigger bike than what I was used to. It's supposed to be snowing here on and off for another couple weeks. So I'll just get it out whenever I can for now. Tried out almost everything on the bike, from cruise control, stereo, right down to my foot pegs. Had it up to about 120 km/hr just to get her into 6th gear..had to try it. Those RPM"s sure drop kicking it down to 6th. I find myself watching the Tach more than I was watching the speedometer though. Was shifting gears at aaround 3000 RPM's. but kept it around 2500 RPM for the most part...is that good? From what I've been reading on here I think that's average...not sure though. Never had a tach on my other bike...just shifted with the sound.
As you can see from this second picture, This is FORD country
Congrats! I surely don't envy you that snow in your pic! I picked up my new RK in the middle of January and have managed to get in 1500 miles so far. Like you, Proboscis, 'tis my first Harley - and there are not words to describe how much I'm loving it!
Next time you ride in the snow.... pick up some snow chains..They are a bitch to install and a little pricey(PLUS they are noisy as all get out) But they work GREAT!!! HAPPY TRAILS
Greetings to you and your new bike from Sweden. Nice feeling to make the first ride. You have more snow that we have had during the whole winter. But right now it's so damm cold here that I freeze just going out to the garage.
I notice you rode 16 km. Are you metric i Canada too?

Yes I'm in Canada, and I went 160 Km's. Actually, in the first town I went to that is next to mine..about 40 km's from me, I was sitting at a light,( the only stoplight in that town)light turned green, waited a second before I went forwardwhen this car ran a red light. Usually I don't wait whenI get a green..but this time I did. Lucky for me.The girl driving thecarflew right threw the red laughing with her boyfriend in the passenger seat. I thought, oh great...just a stones throw from my house and I'm going to get wiped out on the first day.
