I bought the Clearview 8 inch tinted shield. I had the 10 inch Fastaire. The Fastaire was okay, but I was always looking half over it, half through it. I didn't like that so much. The 8 inch I am looking completely over with my stock EGC seat and I'm 5'11" or so.
It's thicker than the original and looks great. So I get on and take it for a ride and it does exactly what they say, it pushes the air up and away and creates a great little pocket of air. I feel up above my helmet a good 3 or 4 inches before I feel any wind buffeting, so I'm looking completely over the shield but not getting hit in the face with any big wind.
Thanks for the post. I am in the market and am leaning towards that same shield. I pm'd a member here who has that one as well. He also tested a friends bike with the cee bailey's ssc 13" and said he liked the clearview better.
It was worth the money. I notice it has almost the identical curve at the top as my OEM Honda Valkyrie shield, and I think Honda used a wind tunnel to test out and get the perfect shape for that one.
Well I am / was in the same boat you were.. I have the 10" Fastaire.. Kinda looking thru it.. I do like it.. but have been studing others on the forum here with the Clearview recurves.
It would be nice to drop a couple of inches and get the same effect..!
How much did it cost you, is that the 1/2 smoked, and where did you get it??
I was looking at the Clearview site and they are 6-8 weeks... is there somewhere else you got yours? Anyone have luck with the discounted blem shields?
They do look like great shields and I was thining of going with same 8" smoke recurve....
Yep... it's the smoke tint 8' Clearview, ordered directly from their site, it costs $80 and then some for shipping. Prices may have increased, I bought this in February. http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=11
I was afraid that the gray tint would be way to dark, but you look over it anyay, unless you're looking down and directly in front of you.
I installed the 8" Clearview tinted re-curve on my SG and although it does take away from the look of the bike a bit, it is at least a order of magnitude better when it comes to the buffeting effect I was getting at 70+MPH. I will keep it on for longer rides, and switch back to the stock unit for day trips.....or I will just order a 4" re-curve from Clearview this Spring.

RE: Clearview Shield
Great shield. I've got the 8" black and can see over it just fine (6'4"), excellent protection. I probably will order a 6" soon as I think it will provide enough deflection w/recurve. Also good people to deal with; got lucky, they had what I wanted in stock and they got it to me in a few days.
