Finally
Did 2 things today I've been meaning to do for a while but just never got around to it. First I removed the heel shifter from my bike. What a difference. I actually have room for my feet. Then I got rid of my Reach touring seat (I had originally replaced the stock seat with the Reach seat. Both were losers) and replaced it with a Sundowner seat. Major difference. My feet have room, my butt has room....it get's no better than this.
So, what were ya waiting for? I had my heal shifter off the day I drove off the lot. I think there's a law that mandates that you change SOMEthing on a Harley before 20 miles.
After thinking about taking my heel shifter off for the past 2 years, I finally did it last week and yes, I agree, what a difference especially when coming to a stop and putting my foot down. I never realized that I was compensating trying not to hit my toe on my highway pegs when putting my foot down. So much more comfortable. Don't know why it took me so long to pull the trigger.
I simply took the shift pad off the rear lever-left the lever on. The rare occasions when I use the 'heel-toe' function, I ususally place my foot on the lever arms themselves and rock my foot foward/back. My foot doesn't even touch the rear pad. Having the extra room to move my foot is such an improvement!
