Don"t know if you want to change the Slip ons . I did. When I bought my bike in 03 I put on Sampson Rlled Thunder slip ons but was never really happy with the sound but they wher priced right. Then bought the pipes I always wnted the V&H Cassic Turn Downs, I love the way the sound and they are all around a far superior pipe. And they look cool too !
Just my humble opinion but I think turn outs, turn downs or whichever way you turn them, look plain ugly on the SG. On an ultra or classic where your going for that big bulky look, yes. The SG is a more sleeker style bike and I think the turns look out of place. Like I said just my opinio!!![:@]
RhinoHD, thanks for the pics. I like the look! May give it a try.
No problem Man, Sorry it took so long I have been swamped with things to do...
I like em too. Mostly because ther are diffrent and add a ton of chrome to the back end... Makes the bike appear to be a bit lower and longer which is the look I am going for.
I just put the se mufflers on and the turn down tips. I took a day to decide if I wanted the tips looking down or out the side looking out. I put the mufflers on the bench one tip looking down one looking out. At first I like the tip looking out. Then I thought the finish on the inside of the one turned out looked rough. And after a while you would see the soot and carbon build up. Not to attractive. So I turned them down. And I am glad I did. That extra chrome in the back looks good. And the turn downs seem to look best on a full dresser. Of course this is my opinion. Hope this helps. Bob.
I had them on my RK custom (turn downs) and loved them. I agree they make the bike look longer and lower. As far as dust goes....I don't think it makes any difference what you have on a bagger. The width of the bike causes a lot of wind turbulance behind you and thats what sucks the dust up on you.
I'm riding a 06 Ultra now and have the stock pipes still. The town I live in can retire the street sweeper. I know I take home the all the street dust on the back of the Ultra. I'm putting turn downs on it to try and blow the dust away from the bike[8D]
'99 Ultra: I changed my Touring mufflers with turn downs to SE Perf. With turn downs. #1 the turn downs that fit the touring mufflers won't fit the SE Perf. mufflers. #2. I like the look of the turn downs ( In my case "Turn Out" ). It makes my bike stand out, Easy to find in a crowd when all the other bikes have something ealse. To each his own, Thats whats unique about a harley.
Had the turn downs on my Ultra. Had a problem grinding the tips in hard turns. Rotated them out but then obtained a set of billet tips (don't extend past the rear bumper and clearence is not a problem). I am fairley happy with these but am looking at the S&S Ovals.
