Ok, so I've got my inner fairing on and all the gauges back in and plugged in...speaker switch installed in fairing cap and all hooked up...figured before I go any further let me make sure everything works...so plug the maxi fuse back in and turn the ignition switch...gauges light up...rear lights light up, turn signals light up...fender tip lights up...but no passing lamps...no headlight...no light on the "spot" switch in fairing cap, yet have power to speaker, cruise, and acc switch in fairing cap. Check the fuse...it's good...recheck all connections, they're all hooked up right...and no the headlight is not set for high beam...can't figure it out...any ideas??? Cause I'm stumped!!!
headlight plugged in or not doesn't get me any light...outer fairing is off...yes I checked the fuse...as far as grounding...didn't unhook any grounds...only unplugged plugs...that's why I'm stumped everything is plugged back in...and no headlight or passing light...
There is a separate ground on the neck of the bike that fits under a screw there, that might be the problem. I think the lights have a separate ground there. Check to see if you have a black wire that is not connected with a "y" clip on it to slip under the screw.
The first time I had my inner off and on I found that I had no headlight - had the passing lamps, just no headlight. Ended up being one of the pins in one of the multi-connectors that had gotten pushed back inside and didn't connect properly.
Ok so I was looking at the wrong fuse last night...was looking at the light fuse...not the headlight fuse...checked it out today after checking the ground on the frame neck...which was intact...to find the headlight fuse blown...now to find the cause of the blown fuse...have more fuses to start the hunt...
Pingman in reference to the CB it isn't a jumper wire that was needed...one is not found in the touring book so I had to get the entire Ultra wire harnes...should be in tomorrow and then I can get it back together...at this point I have reception quite nicely can't wait to be able to talk.
Darryn, check the left handlebar housing; it's very easy to pinch a wire when reassembling the housing. I'd start there looking for a pinched wire in one of the three wires that control the hi/lo switch.
You got it pingman...was the ever loving pinched wire in the clamp...thought I had it positioned right when I clamped down the clutch lever...not so....now fixed, bike is back together...needs some clean up tomorrow and then time for pics!!!
