My wife and I are talking about taking August off (possibly an additional 2 weeks in September) and going on an extended ride wherever we care to go.
We're in the Atlanta, GA area.
I have the small toolkit posted a while back, a small first aid kit.
I figured we'd have one saddlebag each for clothing and rainsuits, and share the Tourpak (camera, laptop, etc.)
Looking for suggestions on what to add. Possibly one of those 1/2 covers to protect our new baby (08 Ultra)?
Insurance is paid up. Have HOG roadside assistance and AAA with RV addon. cellphones, & sunblock.
Comments welcome.
Thanks.
The half cover is a GREAT travel piece, IMO. Sure, it sez HD....iffen someone wants ta mess with it, all they gotta do is git by the alarm an' mah .45.
Your going for a 6 week trip and each of you are going to get by with what you can fit in one saddlebag?? I would never have believed anyone could pack that light....my hat's off to you man....good luck and enjoy your trip.
Have you done any long trips before? I would recommend the saddle bag liners so it easy to unload and load your bike, I am from Philly and My wife and I have done many 2 to 3 week trips out west and south. I agree about putting a luggage rack on your tour pack, that way you can takean additional bag. If you belong to AAAI would recommendcalling them and requesting there books for all the states you think you want to go. If you aren't a memberI would say join because the discounts will pay for the membership on this trip alone and then some. Do you belong to HOG? If you do, I would take there Annual map book. It is a smaller map and has almost everything you will need. Good Luck, Jon
Before taking off on a long trip like you're planning, I'd recommend getting all set and then doing one or two nights locally at whatever kind of lodging you're contemplating (motel, campground, whatever). A little "trial run" if you will. You'll get a much clearer idea of what you need (and how best to pack it all on board). Just my $.02 worth...
