Well, after two years of taking off the seat and playing with the little screw driver adjustment ***** on the HD Race Fueler and never getting it right, I took the plunge Friday and ordered a Power Commander. If what I've read is correct, I don't need the local mechanic to install it. I'm hoping that all I need to do is download the proper map, put it on the PC, unplug the race fueler and plug in the power commander. Does that sound right or am I missing something?
Have you went to the PC website and searched for a map for your bike? If not go now and see if they have one! If they don't you'll have to dyno it and have a custom map built! I'd bet they have one for your bike though!
I have the Screamin' Eagle with the 103 ci engine and stock pipesl I found one for a 103 engine with a Road Glide and stock pipes. Does anyone know if that's the same engine?
i would say that since the touring bikes are basically the same bike with different 'trim' levels, that a 103 is a 103... try it, see how it does, if you don't like it, then you can always upload another map.
big thing is to make sure that you zero the throttle (and 100% too though not as critical). a lot of guys just buy them, slap them on, don't calibrate them, then post a complaint saying what a piece of **** the pc is.
had mine for 2 years and am happy with it. i think this summer i'm going to do what iclick did and tweak the map in the lower ranges for better fuel economy. been getting 40 mpg, but with gas prices the way they are, a couple extra mpg won't hurt
If you have not ordered your PCIII,Jamie at Fuelmoto can pre program one for ya before he sends it to you. Let him know exactly what you are running and he has a map..of just about anything.
Thanks for the tip Dan. I ordered it through the local HD shop, which is not an official HD shop but works on all the Harleys here in the sticks. They ARE an official Power Commander dealer though, and I wanted to throw the business their way.

Good people to deal with.

& he won't hold it against you that "Ya in the Da U.P. Eh"
Jamie is right down the road in Neenah, WI.........good company to deal with !!
Neenah! Shoot I could scoot down there in a couple hours! Well I'll keep him in mind for future reference. Unfortunately, the mind ain't what it used to be...
It should install just about the way you stated. One thing that gets a lot of folks is the USB plug into the unit. You have to really push it in all the way. Sometimes it feels like it is but you do not get connected, give it a good push and you will be OK. The software is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. At the top right you will find "Power Commander Tools" click on it and then click on "Reset Throttle Position" then it will tell you how to proceed.
I have over 2 years and 15,000 miles on mine and love how it makes the bike run.
