Just got my front fork air baffle. Didn't realize that the screws are not included. I had the guy in parts look it up and it says 1/4 x 5/8 self tapping. No hardware stores around here have that size. What size did everyone using to install theirs??? And is a self tapping necessary???
Mine came with screws/bolts, have them check another one to see if the bolts are in it. \\;\\\\\\; think they were 1/4' NC. \\;\\\\\\; be sure you run a tap into the holes first to clean them up. there is paint in there that sometimes causes problems getting the bolts to start.

Mine came with 1/4-20 bolts. Be sure to run a tap through the holes before you screw them in as the holes are filled with paint and you probably will break a bolt off in the hole if you don't clean with a tap them first.
I got the black one. I take it you guys got the chrome one.

Bingogive the man a prize. \\; The same parts book page that shows the black baffle for the RG should also show the screws and part number for them.

Yeah I have that. But I was hoping to not have to order them. I was hoping to find something that would work at the local hardware store or Lowes.
Just go to Lowes or the hardware and get 1/4 X 3/4 coarse thread bolts, preferably in Stainless, \\;and they will work fine! Ditto on what others said about cleaning out the threads with a tap before installing the baffle. Be sure to use some lock washers and a little blue locktite and you are good to go.
The screw size is 1/4-20X5/8". \\; My chrome baffle kit came with chrome allen head screws and 1/4" chrome lock washers. \\; Look a lot better than the hex head self-tapping screws. \\; Hope you find the hardware you need.
go to harley and ask for the bolts.. they just gave them to me! yea! \\; And i second this comment... 1/4-20 bolts. Be sure to run a tap through the holes before you screw them in as the holes are filled with paint and you probably will break a bolt off in the hole if you don't clean with a tap them first.
