Went on a long ride this weekend through the Sierras, and when I got back I noticed a big rock chip dead center in the middle of my fairing! So now, it looks as if I've got to have it repainted. Isn't there some kind of film I can put on there to keep that from happening?
Justified,I live in those Sierras you were riding in ( Lake Tulloch - Copperopolis) get it repainted and then use the clear film protectant that Profinish here on the forum offers,it's the same film I use on my vette and it works, once installed you can't even see it and it does work, profinish lives out in disco bay, give him a shout,he has some specials going on.

I would not deal with pro finish right now i am having problems with the kit
he sent me there were no instructions and it is missing pieces and i and
having problems pro finsh they do not want to take the kit back claim is custom
which is a lie there site says 2 rg kits left i am disputing with pay pal right now
and there is no customer service just 1 guy be warned
I could never imagine putting any film over my paint. Don't care how good it's supposed to be, just doesn't sound right and I can't believe you wouldn't notice it.

But maybe it's from the memories of being on my grandma's furniture that was all wrapped in plastic..... \\;  \\; [8D]
I just got a hold of the Profinish guy and ordered a kit for my Street Glide. He said it would ship out today and should have it Wednesday. I'll let you know how it turns out.
If you want it right, paint it! \\; End of story. \\; To keep it right, use the bra suggested, but it's a pain in the azz to put on and off. \\; Film isn't a bad answer once painted, but IMHO the film always seems to look a little flat against the fender right below. \\; Your call, but rest assured it's going to happen again.
Good Luck, CCRyder
If you were looking for an excuse to get an expensive custom paint job, now you have one. \\; If not, ride it and ignor the chip. \\; Otherwise, get one of these "Support Our Troops" ribbons to cover the damage like I did on the dent in my tank. \\; (Use double sided tape to attache it because the magnet will not work on the fairing.)

+1 on the HD bra. It is not hard to take on and off and fits snugly and does not scratch the paint underneath. I used mine on a trip to Sturgis a couple of years back and was very glad I did. I will reinstall it prior to my HD 105th trip in August.
